The sun was setting.

Everything was glowing gold.

Inspired by where we now live in Tennessee. We turn left at the sheep, right at the horses and a mile and half down the gravel road to get home. When I saw the sheep in the setting sun, everything was glowing gold and I just had to try to recreate that in a painting without the traditional sunset painted in. I carefully apply each delicate sheet of gold leaf by hand in my Tennessee studio. The gilded shine provides continuous visual enjoyment as it changes while the sun moves throughout the day. Purposefully, allowing the warm red underpainting to peek through allows for an almost geometric effect allowing for more visual interest.

I’ve been working and developing this series for the past 2yrs and look forward to continuing to grow and evolve it.
